Revised information from the state health department shows that all previous year fish advisories remain in effect for Covington County.
According to the state’s website, advisories include bass caught from: Opp’s Frank Jackson Lake and Lightwood Knot Creek, Florala’s Lake Jackson and a portion of the Yellow River at the County Road 4 bridge crossing, 1.5 miles upstream of the Alabama-Florida state line.
Other areas of concern in the county are the Gantt reservoir, Pt. A reservoir and Patsaliga Creek. During testing, it was determined that the largemouth bass populations in these waterways were contaminated with mercury.
Women of childbearing age, pregnant women and children (less than 15 years of age) should refrain from consumption of any fish indicated under this advisory. All other individuals should limit their consumption of the particular species to one meal per month.

Sheriff's deputies say they were attempting to arrest 23-year-old Wesley Cooper for felony probation violations, but his father tried to stop the officers.
Deputies said 52-year-old Richard Cooper continued to interfere with the pursuit, and he was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and obstruction of a governmental operation.
