Etisalat unveils tourist kiosk, IPTV information service

Etisalat Information Services (eIS) has presented two tourism products at Gitex Technology Week in Dubai. The first is the Wayfinder Kiosk, a device that can be installed in public areas to provide convenient visitor information. Rashid Al Naqbi, general manager of eIS, said the devices have a simple-to-use interface and can also provide advertising and digital concierge information. They can direct guests to locations as well as book reservations or provide telephone contact details for a venue. The second product presented by eIS at Gitex is an information application on the eHospitality platform, which will be part of an IPTV service. This application lists categories such as restaurants and shops and then a list of subcategories. Additional information can then be reached, such as restaurant menus, or the restaurant can be called directly from the interactive screen using IP telephony, the restaurant's contact information and GPS coordinates, and a location map. Etisalat Information Services is a member of the Local Search Association (formerly the Yellow Pages Association) which is the largest international organisation of print, digital, mobile and social media publishers.
