Boulder Police say the argument would have led to a stabbing at the inn broker Tuesday morning may have started after the victim asked the suspect medication to help relieve the pain of her toothache.
Mark William Case, 45, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault around 9:30 am Tuesday after police said he stabbed 34-year-old friend, Samuel Marshall in the back and stomach.
Marshall was taken to Boulder Community Hospital with non-life threatening. It has since been released.
Companion of the victim, Jennifer Cleary, told police she and Marshall were staying in Boulder after attending Nederland NedFest the weekend. She said Marshall and if they were friends and were staying at the hostel before moving to California together.
Cleary told the police that the night before the stabbing, Marshall took some ketamine Case - a powerful sedative often used in veterinary care - to fight against a dental abscess. The morning of the stabbing, Cleary said Marshall woke up to ask if more ketamine for his toothache.
According to Cleary, Case became angry and said that two out of the room. As he left, Cleary told police she heard the case, "" If you do not go out, I'll stab you. "She told the police later seized when Marshall and Marshall heard the cry that case had stabbed before being pushed out the door.
She also told police that the case said he did not mean to stab Marshall, how she responded to a case, "What do you mean, you do not intend to stab you said you were going to stab him, and you? stabbed him. "
The police then arrived on the scene and the case stopped.
It remains in the Boulder County Jail on Bond $ 50 000. It is due in court Friday.
