ARCATA -- David Del Grande followed the footsteps of World Series legend Tommy Heinrich.
The Yankees' Heinrich swung at strike three for what should have been the final out of Game 4 of the 1941 Series against Brooklyn, but Dodgers catcher Mickey Owens could not catch the pitch. Heinrich made it safely to first, and the Yankees rallied to win the game, and then the Series.
On Wednesday, the Humboldt Crabs' Del Grande swung at strike three for what should have been the final out of the third inning in a scoreless game against the Solano Mudcats. But the pitch got away from Solano catcher Mark Mills, and Del Grande hustled to first as Mills' throw sailed past the first baseman. The error allowed Humboldt's Nick Latta to score from third base with what proved to be the winning run, as the Crabs went on to defeat the Mudcats 4-0 in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader at the Arcata Ball Park.
”Chondell Jones (Solano starting pitcher) was throwing well, struck him out, but then we made an error and they scored a run, and that turned things around,” said Mudcats manager Shawn Scibek.
That run was all Crabs Zach Morgan needed, as the right-hander fired a complete-game, two-hit shutout.
Morgan induced 12 ground-outs, including a 6-4-3 double play in the seventh inning. From the end of the first inning into the fifth, Morgan retired 12 consecutive Solano batters.
”He did a great job, just pitching to contact,” said Crabs manager Matt Nutter.
Joe Mathews and Mills had Solano's two base knocks.
In the nightcap, Brett Morgan and Bryndon Ecklund each contributed two hits, while Del Grande, Higley, Latta and Cody Gappa knocked in runs, as the Crabs downed the Mudcats 4-2.
Jimmy MacWilliam tossed five innings to pick up the W. Kyle Crawford came on to hold the lead, and John Austin struck out two Mudcats in the seventh to earn the save.

MSU is still awaiting word from St. Stanislaus pitcher Jacob Lindgren (Cubs, 12th round). State coach John Cohen said he was "thrilled" to get a call from Woodruff with the news - even if Woodruff did have a little fun with him.
Erick Lindgren, who won $196174 for finishing 43rd in the Main Event (and close to $27000 in two other events), wasn't sure if he finished even for the Series. Erik Seidel cashed five times for around $66000. Andy Bloch cashed once for $5561.

The immune system produces reactive oxygen to kill pathogens. With an over active immune system and one that mistakes our own bodies as the enemy, it produces an over abundance of reactive oxygen. This reactive oxygen is a corrosive or oxidizer. The inflammation and destruction of tissue is the end result. The two reactive oxygen species is Peroxide and Ozone. To break down excessive peroxide you would need a Antioxidant Catalyst (SOD). To break down Ozone you need single chlorine atoms (CFC’s).
