BRADENTON -- The Manatee Chamber of Commerce is adding some extra meaning to its monthly “Business After Hours” gathering today at the Community Coalition on Homelessness.
The chamber is asking attendees to bring not only their business cards and other networkings tools, but also a pair of “new or gently used blue jeans,” which is one of the items most needed by the coalition’s clients. “Business After Hours” is 5 to 7 p.m., and the coalition is located at 701 17th Ave. W.

Businesses partnering to fight breast cancer
LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Hornback Chiropractic & Wellness, P.A. , Manatee Diagnostic Center, and Crowder’s Gifts & Gadgets at Lakewood Ranch are partnering on an event to raise money for will hold an event for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
The event, at Crowder’s Gifts and Gadgets, 2401 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., is set for 10 a.m. - noon Oct. 8 and will include a high heel-a-thon, decorate your bra contest and other festivities.
All proceeds and donations will go to the American Cancer Society.
Plans include chair massages, spinal scans, petting zoo, bouncy house, face painting, free hotdogs, cotton candy, snow cones, decorate-your-pet contest, drawings, mammogram gift certificates, special gift shoppe promotions and prizes.
Sign up for the high heel-a-thon race at the Lakewood Ranch Gift Shoppe, Hornback Chiropractic or Crowder’s Gifts & Gadgets at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
