Nevada has the highest divorce rate in the nation | Las Vegas ...
A recent analysis of the top 10 states with the highest divorce rates in the United States found that Nevada ranks number one with the highest percentage out of every 1,000 in population ending up getting a divorce.
And while this divorce rate can be blamed on the tough economy and financial stress that can certainly negatively impact a marriage, some are pointing to the fact that Las Vegas is also known as an area where temptation to misbehave may really play a rather large role in why more people are deciding to end their marriages.
The data came from a combination of the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Vital Statistics Report, and showed that in Nevada there were 6.6 divorces per 1,000 people, which is a stark difference from the lowest of the top 10, which only came in 4.3 per 1,000.
In general, the report found that financial stress was often cited as the No. 1 reason for a couple to divorce, however, when looking just at Nevada, sources also point to not only the option to get a quick marriage, but also that divorces tend to go rather quick. At one point, Reno was even once reportedly dubbed "The Divorce Capital of the World."
And, in addition to the ease to marry and divorce, the all-around gambling and occasionally wild atmosphere also can reportedly be a real draw to people's vices, which can end up hurting a marriage to the point of at least one spouse insisting on a divorce.
