Apostolic Deliverance Church of Christ IV, 1104 Douglas Ave., will celebrate Pastor Christopher Howell's anniversary with services at 6 p.m. today and 11:45 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Marcus Scott of Knightdale and Pastor Tommy Wiley of Tarboro will speak.
Burney's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church will hold quarterly meeting services at 6 p.m. today, including Communion, and at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Theron Jones and St. Monica Missionary Baptist Church will be guests.
Cherry Lane Church will hold a worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Bishop Warren Williams and Faith and Deliverance Church will be guests.
Elm Grove United American Free Will Baptist Church, 5105 Bill Jones Road, Ayden, will hold a women's day service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Linda Jordan of Preparing the Way Ministries will speak. A banquet will be held for Pastor Julius Phillips at 5 p.m. Aug. 20.
Empower Disciple Church Ministries in Farmville will hold a rainbow tea service at 3 p.m. Aug. 20.
Fleming Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, 1321 Belvoir Highway, will hold a concert at 4 p.m. today in the Junior Consolators, the Thigpen Singers of Jamesville and Spring Garden Male Chorus of Washington, N.C. Homecoming and anniversary services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Guests include: Faith Deliverance Church, Monday; Chapman Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, Tuesday; Terry Best and Mount Carmel Church, Wednesday; Pastor Joe Hopkins and Prayer Temple Church, Thursday; Minister Monica Jones and Philippi Church, Friday.

Max Lucado (born January 11, 1955) is a best-selling author and writer and preacher at Oak Hills Church (formerly the Oak Hills Church of Christ) in San Antonio, Texas. Lucado has written more than 50 books with 65 million copies in print, including three recipients of the Charles “Kip” Jordon Gold Medallion Christian Book of the Year (Just Like Jesus, In the Grip of Grace, and When God Whispers Your Name), and has appeared regularly on several bestseller lists. After serving as the pulpit minister for 20 years, Lucado announced in early 2007 that he was stepping down due to health concerns related to atrial fibrillation. Lucado has since assumed the ministry role of writing and preaching at Oak Hills. He co-pastors the church with one of Willow Creek’s former teaching pastors, Randy Frazee.
