Hundreds Of Job Seekers Attend NKY Fair

COVINGTON, Ky. - More than 800 job seekers were in competition for work among nearly 120 jobs Wednesday at the Fair Job Northern Kentucky.

About 50 employers attended the event at the Radisson Hotel Covington.

"It was extremely difficult," said job seeker Lynem Ubar, which stopped working for eight months. "I have a bachelor's degree, but what I find is high school diplomas are actually working working and bachelor's, master do. "

She has submitted applications for 10 jobs at the event, saying her research was much more difficult than she had imagined.

Another job seeker said she found four possible options.

"I was very interested in Mercy (Hospital), because I am a medical assistant, then I would be happy to have a position like that," said job seeker Tenisha Clark.

Many participants said they would listen carefully to the speech of President Barack Obama on Thursday the creation of jobs, but they are not optimistic about a quick fix.

"I'm not sure what he will be able to do since we have so many things that have been outsourced," said Lynem. "A lot of my experience was in customer service."

But event organizers said the number of jobs available at the fair was a positive indicator.

"The number of companies that we had, we did not have more than 40 vendors at an event since before 2008," said Reggie McElhaney, News of employment. "It seems local businesses are up in hiring.
