Law enforcement blotter items released Monday, August 8, 2011:

Friday, August 5

6:49 a.m. – A Brownwood Police officer was called to assist another officer with a traffic stop in the 900 block of Fisk Avenue. The driver was identified as 35-year-old Amy Renea Adams Elliot and had been observed swerving and driving into the oncoming traffic by the officer. Elliott was noted to have a moderate smell of alcohol on her breath and was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Elliott was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

3:27 p.m. – Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of U.S. Hwy 377S, Mid-Tex Federal Credit Union, regarding forgery. An account holder discovered two checks had been stolen from her checkbook and that a suspect had forged the checks. A suspect has been named but no arrest made.

5:32 p.m. – Police were called to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft. The owner of the convenience store said he had observed a known suspect, on video surveillance, steal two packages of male stimulant pills valued at $8.99 each. The subject was located and issued a criminal trespass warning for the location, and a report was generated for theft less than $50.

8 p.m. – Police responded to the 2300 block of Berkley regarding the burglary of a vehicle. A man said an unknown suspect entered his vehicle and stole $310 in cash out of his wife’s wallet. Nothing else was missing from the vehicle.

9:46 p.m. – Police were called to the 100 block of Bluffview regarding a domestic disturbance. A male suspect had left the scene. A woman said her husband, 42-year-old Myron Oscar Condon, had pushed his way through the back door. She had obtained a temporary protective order, after a previous assault on Aug. 4.

Defending national champion Eastern Washington grabbed the top spot in the preseason The Sports Network/Fathead.com Football Championship Series Top 25 poll released on Monday.

The Eagles received 90 of the 140 first-place votes and 3,377 points in the poll, which is voted on by a panel of sports information directors and members of the media.

Appalachian State, which received 14 first-place votes, was second followed by William & Mary (20), Georgia Southern (11), and Delaware (2) rounding out the top five of the poll.
