Andrea Adelson writes: I think a lot of people are wondering how much better the defense is going to be this season, and therefore have some questions about what Cincinnati will do in 2011. Let us also keep in mind that the offense only returns five starters. Important players like receiver Armon Binns , center Jason Kelce and tackle Sam Griffin are gone, and the kicking situation also is up in the air with Jacob Rogers gone as well. The good thing is the defense will be much more experienced, more comfortable in the defensive scheme and more aware of trying to contain the big play. The offense has made it a priority to hang onto the football. How that translates into the season remains to be seen. Pat in Pittsburgh writes: Hey, Andrea. Firstly, great work on ESPN. Keep it up. On your last chat, I asked you why Pitt wasn't getting much love. You responded that they were picked to place second in the Big East and that Phil Steele picked them to win it. Looking back at my question, I really didn't make what I wanted to know clear. When I said Pitt wasn't getting much love, I meant that, compared to WVU, Pitt is being underrated, in my opinion. WVU got 21 first-place votes to Pitt's two for the Big East poll and West Virginia got 150 something votes for the Top 25 to Pitt's three. It seems to me that WVU is being overrated a little, and Pitt just the opposite. Adelson writes: I did miss it, and I apologize for that. With the crush of stories on practice, it slipped through the cracks. But consider this post in the mailbag amends for my mistake. Carroo is rated a three-star player by ESPN Recruiting and falls in line with plenty of the other receivers already on the Rutgers roster -- big and strong. Cornerback Yuri Wright and defensive end Darius Hamilton are the two Don Bosco players I am sure you are referring to -- both are on the ESPNU 150 and both are still undecided. Ben Glicksman: Don Bosco Prep, De La Salle loom large in preseason ...

It’s here. As the final days of August inch closer, as summer winds to a bittersweet close and the nights grow cooler, the tantalizing prospect of high school football comes into focus. Two-a-days begin. Playbooks are tweaked and memorized. Players spend countless hours on rundown practice fields and in stuffy weight rooms, hoping to leave a legacy on Friday nights.

This season is as intriguing as ever, with loads of storylines. Can Don Bosco Prep, Aledo and Cocoa continue their impressive winning streaks? Can Bishop Gorman and Warren Central ascend into the prep football pantheon? Perhaps most important, where will the top recruits of the class of 2012 land? All will be answered in time.

Each Monday, SI.com will unveil its Top 10. One thing seems certain: Many powerhouse programs are primed for success. Of the 25 teams listed, 15 won their respective league championships in 2010.

1. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.)

2010 Record: 12-0, New Jersey Group IV Champions

First Game: Sept. 10 vs. Mission Viejo (Calif.)

Don Bosco has won 35 consecutive games, 59 of its last 60 and five straight New Jersey state titles. A perennial powerhouse, the Ironmen are again loaded in 2011. The Fab Four — defensive tackle Darius Hamilton, cornerback Yuri Wright, receiver Leonte Carroo and safety and running back Elijah Shumate — head up the nation’s best senior class.

2. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)

2010 Record: 14-0, CIF North Coast Section Champions

First Game: Sept. 2 vs. Bellarmine (San Jose, Calif.)

De La Salle rolled through last year’s CIF North Coast Section playoffs, winning each game by at least four touchdowns. The Spartans should be equally dominant this season. Quarterback Bart Houston, a Wisconsin commit who threw for 1,922 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2010, leads the aerial attack.

3. Armwood (Seffner, Fla.
